Licensing Concepts

In the context of licensing, Reality consists of three products:

  • Reality 5
  • Reality Pre-Production Seat
  • Reality Hub

License Model

License model refers to the overall framework for how licenses are issued. Reality Ecosystem has two different models:

  • Machine-bound Licensing Model via Zero Density License Manager.
  • Server-Client Licensing Model via Reality Hub Licensing Server.

Core License

The Core License, also known as the Base License, is the fundamental license type necessary for the functioning of the Reality software bundle, which is designed to work as an integrated system.

Core License Example

Reality 5 requires the Engine license to operate. Without this core license, the software cannot be used.

Feature License

A Feature License, also known as an Add-on License, is a license type that provides additional capabilities that can be added to the Core License.

Feature License Example

If you need to remove a green or blue screen background from your footage, you'll need the Keyer license.

Feature Upgrade License

A Feature Upgrade License is a license type that provides additional capabilities that can be added to the Feature License.

Keying in UHD resolution requires KeyerUHD along with the feature license Keyer.

Per Camera License

A Per Camera License category is based on the number of studio cameras connected to Reality ecosystem.

UERender license is based on the camera you connect to Reality.

Per Usage License

A Per Usage License category is based on the number of software units used.

Per Usage License Example

VideoPlayer license is categorized as a per usage license. This means that for three video players, you must have three VideoPlayer licenses.

Per Seat License

A Per Seat License , also known as a Per User License, category is based on the number of individual users who have access to the software.

Per Seat License Example

Hardware Monitor license in Reality Hub categorized as a per seat license. This means that if you want three users to use Hardware Monitor module, you must have three Hardware Monitor licenses.

Per Pixel License

Per Pixel License category is based on the total number of megapixels that the part of software is processing.

Per Pixel License Example

CurveXR license is per pixel license and its cost is determined by your screen resolution.
