Reality Keyer is an advanced image-based keying tool designed to create precise mattes by comparing an incoming video to a clean plate. It uses a clean plate—captured after setting up lighting and camera configurations—to identify changes in the image at the pixel level. This method allows for accurate keying without relying on a fixed color tolerance, which is common in traditional chroma keyers.

As a result, Reality Keyer can preserve fine details such as hair, transparent objects, and contact shadows, even when the cyclorama (background) has uneven lighting or color variations.

Reality Keyer is designed to handle moving cameras by generating a new clean plate for each frame using the Cyclorama node, which maps the clean plate to the geometry of the virtual set. This enables trackless keying for moving subjects, maintaining accuracy in dynamic scenes.
