Lens Effects
Managing lens effects, including minimizing lens flare with lens hoods and adjusting zoom levels to reduce vignetting, is crucial for achieving optimal keying performance.
Details
- Lens Flare: Lens flares can create bright spots or halos in the image that affect the clean edge of the keyed subject. To minimize this, a lens hood should be used to block unwanted light from entering the lens, thus reducing flare artifacts.
- Vignetting: Vignetting refers to the gradual darkening of the image corners, often exacerbated by the aperture size or focal length of the lens. Vignetting can distort the key, especially around the edges of the subject. To reduce this, it is recommended to adjust the zoom level and aperture settings so that the talent is not affected by the darkening at the corners of the frame.
