info

Before you begin, keep in mind that Enlarge Your Crane requires camera tracking, talent tracking, and a keying pipeline. In this example, we use Traxis Talent Tracking for talent tracking and Traxis Camera Tracking for camera tracking.

Enlarge Your Crane is a workflow that exponentially accelerates camera movement beyond a defined spherical volume. The acceleration is controlled by a coefficient set in the Enlarge Your Crane node.

In other words, Enlarge Your Crane makes a virtual camera move much faster than the real studio crane only when the real crane goes beyond a certain boundary. Outside, the virtual camera's movement gets amplified exponentially.

Example

Imagine you have a large auto showroom designed in Reality and want to showcase various areas—cars, reception, waiting lounges, branding elements, interactive technology, and furniture—before smoothly transitioning back to your talent inside the cyclorama. You want to achieve this dynamically, without relying on complex keyframe animations.

With Enlarge Your Crane, you can execute such movements effortlessly, triggered in real time by the studio crane’s position. This approach eliminates the need for precise planning and manual keyframe animations for each movement, making it especially useful in live productions.

The method is fully dynamic—the crane operator controls the movement, and no keyframe animation is required. The only requirement is setting a boundary within which normal camera behavior is maintained. Once the crane crosses that boundary, the camera movement accelerates exponentially based on the defined coefficient, making the workflow intuitive and easy to operate.
