Lens Calibration
Lens Calibration is the determination and documenting of the characteristics of a lens.
This section is a step-by-step guide for the physical and software setup that is necessary to enable calibration, and also the calibration process itself.
How Precise Should the Calibration Be?
For XR production with an LED wall, a very precise calibration of the lens and also the tracker is usually required. Such calibration might be a lengthy and highly iterative process that requires expertise of tracking systems and lenses in general. This is true especially for certain lenses which have complicated and non-linear multi-factor distortion behavior.
However, for green screen virtual studio, or standard augmented reality scenarios, even a quick and coarse calibration would be sufficient most of the time.
